Web Site Marketing Tip:
The Title Tag
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a hot topic these days and there has always been discussion about the "keyword" and "description" meta tags. While the importance of the keyword tag is arguable (some search engines ignore it now because of the abuse that it has had in the past) one tag that appears to have been overlooked is the lowly "title" tag.
The title tag is an HTML element that displays the name of each page at the top of your browser window. It is also used in your Favorites list when you bookmark a web page and last but not least it may be used by search engines to rank your page in search results.
When writing your title tag try incorporating some of the words used in your keyword and description meta tags. Better still try to use those same keywords in the actual content of your page. It also helps to put the most important keywords towards the beginning of your title tag.
Employing these techniques may help to put you above your competition.
